Hypocrisy

Another GOP Congessman, Mark Foley (R-West Palm Beach, FL) is resigning in shame and possibly facing criminal charges for his internet sexual advances on a 16-year-old page. Here's what high-and-mighty Foley had to say about Clinton during the Lewinsky affair:

"It's vile," said Rep. Mark Foley, R-West Palm Beach. "It's more sad than anything else, to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain because of a sexual addiction."

Not only this, but Foley was the chairman of the house caucus on missing and exploited children and has long crusaded for tough laws against those who use the Internet for sexual exploitation of children.

Habeas Corpus, R.I.P. (1215 - 2006)

A good piece by Molly Ivins:

"With a smug stroke of his pen, President Bush is set to wipe out a safeguard against illegal imprisonment that has endured as a cornerstone of legal justice since the Magna Carta."

Clearly, as Congress moves to throw out the rule of law and give up the moral high ground by rewriting the Geneva Conventions to allow torture, the terrorists have won.
