October: Bloodiest Month
Today brought news that seven more US service members were killed in Iraq.
In a shopping center in Basra, 20 civilians were killed and 40 wounded.
The deaths today cap "the bloodiest month for American troops since January," bringing the total number of US casualties to 2,025.
While the death toll in Iraq rises, a new poll (aired on CNN today) indicates that a majority (53%) now believe the Bush administration lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, our rationale for going to war.
It's great that people are finally coming to their senses, but for the seven US soldiers killed today and the 20 innocent civilians, it's too little, too late.
